We are Hanna, Lars and baby Adam, a family of foodies.
Whilst on our travels through NZ in 2015, we discovered the most beautiful town, Raglan.
That same year we decided to move here, and make this magical place our home.
We have always had great love and appreciation for amazing food.
This love led us on the path of dedicating our time to develop authentic Italian Gelato from scratch.
In July 2021 we finally decided to realise our life-long dream, Raglan Gelato became a reality.
At Raglan Gelato we believe in authentic flavours. This is why we make our Gelato the traditional way, without any shortcuts.
Gelato is the Italian word for “frozen”...
Our artisan Gelato is crafted using fresh, seasonal, high quality ingredients sourced as locally as possible. You won’t find any artificial flavours or colours in our Gelato. Every morning we pick up fresh milk from Dreamview Creamery. This ethical farm is a family business located on the beautiful coastline of Raglan.
Our Gelato is manufactured in small batches in Raglan. We follow the finest Italian recipes, inspired by traditional craftsmanship, which our Gelato Chef, Lars, has fine-tuned over the years.
Gelato contains less air and fat than ordinary ice-cream. This combination creates an incredibly creamy and velvety texture, whilst allowing for outstandingly rich flavours.
We believe Gelato is ice-cream with passion, and we are excited to share our love for artisan frozen delights with you.
Our Gelato cart was custom-made for us in Sicily, Italy. The craftsmen who made our cart are celebrated for manufacturing the best Gelato carts in the world. Our wagon is a modern, high-tech version of the vintage carts that, for centuries have been pushed through the cobblestoned streets of Italy.
You may wonder why our Gelato is not showcased behind glass as usual. Our cart is fitted out with “pozzetti” cases, just like the traditional Italian Gelato parlours. Quality is our priority! These “pozzetti” cases guarantee the optimum environment to store our Gelato; protected from sunlight and air, whilst maintaining the perfect temperature.
We bought this state of the art Gelato cart to provide you with a unique culinary experience.
